PDCPD polydicyclopentadiene heat-resistant unsaturated polyester resin, DCPD resin is a kind of heat-curing resin, and polyDCPD is a thermosetting resin, PPCPD is a new type of resin material, the polymer is added to the DCPD catalyst such as containing W or Ru, OsAl heteropoly acid salt or metal organic compound is formed by instantaneous double bond polymerization and ring-opening polymerization.
During the synthesis, the raw materials are divided into 2 groups. The first component is DCPD, catalyst, stabilizer and additives, and the second component is bicyclodiene, co-catalyst and other regulators. They are injected into the mold at the same time, which can be used in a very short time. Form a network of high molecular weight polymer.
It can be reacted by a special mold to produce materials with complex shapes, bright shapes and good engineering properties in a short period of time. The polymer has high temperature resistance, bending resistance, good mechanical properties, good combustion-supporting performance, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and wear resistance is unmatched by ordinary plastic materials.
It has comprehensive mechanical properties called the name, and combines excellent rigidity and impact resistance. The strength is all in one, the density is low, because it does not contain fragile glass fiber, no breakage occurs, the surface quality is excellent, the production process is simple, and the mold is easy to manufacture.
Though Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) is a relatively newer process, it has gained significant recognition for its unique advantages in producing high-performance thermoset parts.
Why Choose RIM?

Reaction Injection Molding (RIM) is an advanced low-pressure, low-temperature manufacturing process used to produce high-strength, lightweight parts with complex geometries.
RIM is widely adopted in industries requiring durable, lightweight, and customizable components:
Automotive: Bumpers, spoilers, and interior panels (paintable Class A surfaces).
Medical: Biocompatible housings, seals, and ergonomic device grips.
Industrial: Protective casings, structural panels, and energy-absorbing components.
Key Stages of RIM:
1.Recirculation Loop
The low-viscosity liquids continuously circulate from storage tanks to the mixing head, maintaining chemical stability and preventing premature curing.
2.In-Mold Reaction
Once injected, the mixture undergoes rapid polymerization, expanding and thickening within the mold (50–80°C).
Cross-linking reactions form a thermoset structure, achieving full cure in 30–120 seconds.
3.Demolding & Finishing
Parts are ejected with near-final geometry, often requiring minimal post-processing (e.g., trimming or painting).
Reaction Injection Molding has some remarkable features that make it preferred by manufacturers over traditional Injection Molding. Check those advantages below:
● Huge parts can be made conveniently due to the nature of the polyurethane liquid that can expand.
● The cost of tools in reaction injection molding is lower compared to native injection molding. This is possible because of the low injection pressure of RIM injection molding.
● There is ease in picking the flexibility of parts as RIM allows designing components with a specific thickness.
Ares's state-of-the-art machines for RIM operations are very flexible and can manufacture a vast range of parts. Parts like:
● Handles
● Bezels
● Doors
● Internal components
● Plastic enclosures
