Years of experience in foreign trade has led us to an interesting observation: numerous overseas clients prefer to liaise directly with our engineering team. Once they send over drawings with complete dimensional specifications, they consider the information sufficient. In their view, sales personnel only serve as messengers tasked with order chasing and quotation, hence they try to exclude sales from communication whenever possible.

From a purely technical perspective, this reasoning holds true. Upon receiving drawings, engineers verify dimensions, tolerances and manufacturing processes before arranging production strictly per specifications to deliver dimensionally accurate and visually qualified components.
Yet customer requirements frequently extend beyond what is marked on engineering drawings. Take a typical example: a drawing specifies an L-shaped bracket bent from 3mm stainless steel sheet. If handed straight to engineers, production will commence right after parameter confirmation. In contrast, an experienced sales specialist reviewing the same drawing may spot a potential defect: the designated bend radius is prone to failure under continuous vibration. The sales rep will then proactively enquire about the bracket’s application scenario. Should the client confirm the part is fitted onto equipment vibrating hundreds of times daily, the sales professional will propose an optimized solution: increasing the bend radius and adding two reinforcing ribs on the rear side for enhanced durability.

Once the client approves the revision, the salesperson relays the updated requirements to in-house engineers, who finalize concrete technical parameters: adjust bend radius from R3 to R5, with reinforcing ribs measuring 1.5mm in thickness and 8mm in height. After drawing revision based on these specs, the finished bracket gains reliable vibration resistance.

At our factory, every incoming drawing goes through a preliminary requirement consultation by sales staff, who supplement unstated practical application notes alongside blueprints prior to handover to engineers. While engineers still manufacture in strict accordance with finalized drawings, these documents already incorporate considerations for real-world service conditions.
Should you have any custom sheet metal demands, feel free to send us your drawings. We offer complimentary drawing inspection and professional optimization suggestions with no hidden charges or cumbersome formalities.
